Teen Challenge
Teen Challenge is an international evangelistic organisation which reaches out to people with life controlling addictions. The driving force of the work is to share Jesus with people and to help them come to the point where their lives can be turned around. 'Teen Challenge Dorset' was set up in April 2011 and is ran by volunteers from churches across the area. This is a ministry very close to our hearts at RPC and one where we invest our time and talents.
On the last Wednesday of the month we run 'Street Church.' We come together with those struggling with addiction or homelessness for a meal, followed by a short service including singing, testimony, short message and a time of prayer. Every other Wednesday sees a team seeking to reach those in need in the Boscombe area. This work takes different forms throughout the course of the year. Sometimes a Cafe style outreach is ran at the church and at other times the team will go out, sometimes doing door to door work or going out with a flask of hot chocolate and cakes, seeking to meet people out in the area. Either way, people are listened to, cared for, prayed with and where possible, arrangements made to go into one of the UK Teen Challenge rehabilitation centres. We have also been able to supply many people with sleeping bags, clothes, hats & gloves etc., which has been greatly appreciated.
Joy Moore, one of our members works for Teen Challenge as a support worker and is part of the steering committee. She also helps lead the volunteer outreach evenings. If you have any questions or know anyone who needs help with addiction Joy would love to speak to you. She can be contacted via our contacts page.
