Who's who at RPC
Our leadership team is made up of our Pastor, Martin and Elders; David, Irwin and Len.
Martin joined Richmond Park Church in September 2010 after being a pastor in Bristol for 10 years. Martin is originally from the Black Country in the West Midlands where he became a Christian in 1989. He studied at Capernwray Bible School, followed by a 3 year graduate course, here locally, at Moorlands Bible College. He is married to Joy and they have two children; Daniel & Rachel. He has a passionate desire to see believers know and enjoy God more, wanting their relationship with Him to deepen; their love and passion for Him to increase. He also longs for the lost to know Christ and see Him in all his greatness and glory. He enjoys playing (or trying to play) the occasional round of golf and going out for walks with his family and their little dog Tess.
Dave has been on the road with Christ since 1967 having become a Christian through the ministry of Lansdowne Baptist Church in Bournemouth. Since then he has been involved in a number of roles: Youth Ministry leadership, Deacon, Pastor and latterly Elder. Richmond Park Church was founded in his home in 1981 and eventually after a number of stages moved to the present location in Boscombe. Dave's passion is to see people becoming Christians and then going on to follow Christ in a daily life which glorifies God. He is very ably supported by his wife Hae Sook who is from South Korea and has four daughters and three grand-daughters. Dave enjoys most sports, gardening and generally relaxing yet his great desire is to "finish the race well" and to see other Christians do the same.
Irwin and his wife Rosalie came to Bournemouth four years ago from Reading where they met whilst studying at the university there. Career wise they have both taught English as a Foreign Language and have been involved in mission work at home and abroad for a number of years. They both work for a local Christian charity serving refugees and asylum seekers here in Bournemouth. As a result their ministry is primarily cross-cultural. Their joy will be to see those from every tribe and nation worshipping around the throne in heaven.
Len has been part of Richmond Park Church where he became a Christian in 1984; is married to Barb and they have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. He served in the Royal Navy until 1959 and in the aviation industry until he retired in 1999. He has been involved in various ministries within the life of the church, many with his wife Barb, including the pastoral care team, care group leaders and are currently part of the prayer ministry team. He has also been part of the drama team and used his practical skills in helping to maintain the church building. Len is joining the church leadership team a second time; having already served the church faithfully in this role. He has a heart for the ‘weary and heavy laden,’ seeking to make the love of Christ a greater reality in their lives.
